The CPN-Maoist has denied to have made any announcement restricting the activities of political parties in their strongholds. Claiming this, the Maoists have brushed aside the reports that mentioned that the ultras, during a ceremony held to announce Karnali Autonomous Government, had declared the political parties banned in their territories.
A report published in the Maoist website claimed the Maoists have not barred political parties. Quoting highly placed sources, the report has stated that nobody “except the royal army, the police and elements belonging to the palace” will be restricted in Maoist hinterlands.
The Maoist announcement, if any, of restricting political activities in their areas had caused great furor in the mainstream political front.
Meanwhile, the outfit has claimed to have constituted Madhesi (Terai) Autonomous People’s Government comprising of some Terai parts. The 31-member self-style government announced on Sunday at an unidentified place in Sarlahi has Matrika Yadav, a politburo member, as the chairman whereas Binod Upadhyaya and Mahendra Paswan have been appointed vice-chairman and secretary respectively.
