Maoists kill two civilians; abduct 400

Their unilateral ceasefire notwithstanding, the Maoist insurgents have killed two civilians in Bhojpur district and have abducted 400 villagers in Baglung district, according to the army.

A group of Maoists shot and killed Shyam Sundas and Judda Sundas, both residents of Timma VDC, Bhojpur, on December 17, a statement issued by the Directorate of Public Relations (DPR) of the army said Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Maoists abducted more than 400 people from Pandabkhani, Adhikarki Chour and Tarakhola VDCs of the western district of Baglung on Tuesday. Those abducted include women, children and the elderly people, according to the DPR

Similarly, the rebels also took two persons namely Balbodh Raya and Ram Ekbal Raya of Basantapur, Sarlahi district, to an unknown location on December 17, the DPR said.
