The Maoists have withdrawn the blockade imposed on transportation of goods at the Tatopani border in Sindhupalchowk Sunday.
Citing a statement issued by the self-styled District People’s Government, reports said the blockade was called off owing to constant requests from small traders and the wage earners.
The rebels had been carrying out the blockade since the last three weeks demanding that the Tatopani Customs Office pay the tax to their district ‘government’.
Tatopani, linked with Khasa Bazar, Tibet, is one of the major trade points in the country. Due to the blockade, the customs office had been bearing losses worth millions of rupees each day.
Reports said the transportation of goods has resumed soon after the Maoist announcement.
