Security forces have captured Maoist’s division headquarters at Thabang and Rangkot in Rukkum district, a report in Nepal Samacharpatra said Friday.

The report quoting Lieutenant Col Kaji Bahadur Khatri, said a large
number of security forces was deployed from Nepalgunj to launch security operations in the region.

“We found the Maoists very weak even in the so-called ‘division
headquarters’. They make superfluous rumors about their hold in the
region,” he said.

“The Royal Nepali Army (RNA) is ready and capable of safeguarding any corner of the country,” he said adding, “Maoists’ can not ban the RNA in any area of the country.”

Khatri said that the RNA was committed to respect public rights. He
however, accepted some human rights violation from its recruits. “The
RNA will penalize such staffers,” he added.

He also flayed news regarding the establishment of a Maoists’ medical college in the area. “It is just a rumor,” he said.
