KATHMANDU: Over 25 Maoist rebels died of food poisoning in Gulmi district, according to an official report in the Rising Nepal.
The deceased rebels had symptoms of cholera but it more likely a case of simple food poisoning. According to the report, all of the rebels began vomiting without any preceding signs and thus choked to death.
The incident occurred in a cave near Sirseni village where the rebels had assembled for a meeting. Several central leaders were to attend the meeting but the incident took place just before they arrived.
