In what can be dubbed a propaganda stunt, the CPN-Maoist Monday claimed its fighters have killed 21 government security personnel in the last three days, reports citing a statement issued by the Eastern Brigade of the People’s Liberation Army said.

The statement mentioned that 12 RNA men were killed during skirmishes on January 16 and 9 on January 15 in different parts of Morang district.

It is also claimed that 26 army men were injured in these incidents. The militants ruled out any big loss on their side except the death of a senior commander.

Meanwhile, the CPN-Maoist dubbed the explosion in a passenger bus in Dhankuta as unfortunate, begging apology. Maoist statement said the blast occurred due to some technical flaws.

In the meantime, the ultras have blown up an ancestral home belonging to RNA spokesperson Col. Deepak Gurung Sunday evening in Kawasoti- 5, Nawalparasi district, reports said. Property worth 0.3 million including Rs.44 thousand cash and gold worth Rs.60 thousand has been gutted.

Four armed Maoists coming on two motorcycles detonated explosives inside the house and vanished soon after, reports quoting Gurung’s father Prem Bahadur Gurung, a retired army major, said.
