Suspected Maoists Monday night blew up the tower of the132 KV transmission line of Sun Kosi hydel power plant plunging Kathmandu Valley into darkness for one hour on the first day of a three-day national strike called by rebels, Radio Nepal said Tuesday night.
Electricity went off at 10.57 PM and was restored at 11.35 PM. The power plant is a gift of China. The rebels had attacked the plant before.
The insurgents attacked the tower several days after plunging Panauti and adjoining areas into darkness by bombing the Russian built power plant in neighboring Kavre district.
