Indian police has arrested three Indian gunrunners, who have been supplying the Maoists with weapons at the bordering Lalbandi area in east Nepal, the Rising Nepal said Saturday.
The Indian police also confiscated one homemade pistol, 10 bullets of .303 rifle and .350 rifles, and a Hero Honda motorcyle, the daily said, adding, they were apprehended receiving tips from Nepali police.
They used to supply guns in the western part of the country but had changed supply route to eastern Nepal recently, the daily said. The three, arrested on Thursday, have been sent to district police office of Sitamadhi in Bihar, India, said the daily.
The three arms suppliers have been identified as Prakash Raya of Bathariya, Gopi Raya of Lalbandi and Mahatman Shaha of Kamharipur of India, the daily added. nepalnews.com mr Jan 10
