In clear violation of ceasefire and recently signed code of conduct, Maoist abducted Bharat Thapa, 30, of Urleni village in Nuwakot district on Saturday, a newspaper report said on Monday.

The Kathmandu Post daily quoted Kul Bahadur, Thapa’s younger brother as saying that the Maoists forcibly took away Thapa from the local marketplace.

He informed that his elder brother has been solely dependent on farming in the village for livelihood.

However, the paper quoted a Maoist source as saying that Thapa was taken into control for investigation after complaints were received about his involvement in looting cases in the village posing as a Maoist.

In a similar report from Siraha, a group of Maoists abducted Biltu Mahato, a cadre of People’s Front Nepal (PFN), from his home at Lalpur-5, Saturday night.

About half-a-dozen Maoist cadres broke into Mahato’s house and took him away saying that they had something “to talk about” with him.
