Armed Maoist insurgents have abducted at least 223 civilians including 150 women from three districts of the mid-western Nepal, reports said.
According to a statement issued by the Royal Nepalese Army (RNA), Maoists Thursday abducted at least 150 women from Aatichaur, Mankot, Dogati and Kuldawamandu VDCs of Bajura district. This is the first time the Maoists have abducted such a large number of women.
Similarly, another group of Maoists have abducted 70 civilians from separate parts of Achham while the rebels abducted three youths heading abroad for foreign employment from Khungri of Rolpa district, the army said.
So far, whereabouts of the abducted remain unknown, reports said.
