Maoist rebels abducted a 15-year-old schoolgirl from Sreeved Secondary School, Palpa, about 350 kilometres west of Kathmandu. A group of armed Maoist rebels entered into the school premises and took away Kabita Basyal, a grade ten girl two weeks ago.

Although the incident took place two weeks ago, it came to light only recently when her family members appealed to the government and political parties to help release the girl. The motive of the abduction was not known.

CPN-ML has asked the Maoist rebels to immediately release the girl.
