Maoists organized victory rallies and a victory meeting in the capital Friday to celebrate the historic agreement between the ruling seven party alliance and the rebels.

They urged their activists to take the agreement as a partial victory asking them to remain cautious of the games reactionary forces may play to make the agreement a failure.

Addressing the meeting, Maoist deputy commander Prabhakar said the agreement was not the result of Baluwatar meeting but the output of the ideological fighting of the last one decade.

Claiming that it was a victory of revolutionary forces, he added that it has opened the way for building a new Nepal.

Speaking on the occasion, Maoist central committee member Ram Karki said that there will only be ceremonial democracy in a country where there is ceremonial monarchy and added that they don’t need such democracy.

Saying an autocratic regime cannot be defeated through elections, republican leader Ram Raja Prasad Singh said it was necessary to build a new Nepal through revolution.

The traffic movement in the capital was adversely affected throughout the day due to the Maoist program.

The Maoists had forced many locals especially school students in the valley to join the program.

Maoist supremo Prachanda was scheduled to address the mass meeting but it was postponed at the eleventh hour after locals protested the Maoist act of forcing people to accommodate and feed their cadres.

The Maoists were planning to bring one million people in the capital in the mass meeting.

Similarly, reports from districts said Maoists organized victory rallies in various districts of the country, to celebrate the historic agreement.
