Lower House members elect 10 Upper House members

Kathmandu, June 27: The election of the ten members of the National Assembly, Upper House
of Parliament, on the basis of a single transferable voting system from the members of the House of Representatives, Lower House, was held Wednesday in which six Nepali Congress, 3 CPN-UML and one RPP candidates were elected.

Those elected are: Akkal Bahadur Bista (NC), Ashok Koirala (NC), Dipak Bahadur Gurung (NC), Bal Bahadur Rai (NC), Radheshyam Adhikari (NC), Ram Jeevan Singh (NC), Mahesh Mani Dixit (CPN-UML), Laxmi Das Manandhar (CPN-UML), Bedu Ram Bhusal (CPN-UML) and Lok Bahadur Thapa (RPP). Members of the Lower House elected the ten members of the Upper House. One female candidate Maiya Devi Shrestha (NC) had already been elected unopposed.
