Relatives and local residents have halted the traffic movement at Satdobato area protesting yesterday’s road accident that led to the death of two children.

The agitators have demanded justice and proper compensation to the family of the deceased.

The traffic movement of the ring road area was also disturbed due to the disturbances in Satdobato area.

Talks are underway between the family and the owner of the vehicle at the Traffic Police Office Lalitpur to resolve the issue. The talks could not conclude yesterday as the truck owner refused to pay compensation as demanded by the relatives of the victims.

A truck with registration number BAA 2 KHA 918 heading towards Koteshwore from Satdobato, hit a motorcycle with registration number BAA 14 BA 528, causing the deaths of 8-year-old Nischal Basnet and 12-year-old Suresha Khadka on Monday.

The driver of the motorbike, Pawan Basnet, who was also injured in the incident, is undergoing treatment at B and B Hospital in Gwarko.

The police have already taken the driver of the truck into custody.
