A group of assailants has shot dead Nankau Gaderiya, in-charge of Bardiya district committee of the CPN (Maoist)-affiliated Madhesi Liberation Front, in the mid-western district of Bardiya on Monday.

According to reports, a group of people arrived on three motorbikes with Indian plate no. at Khairapur of Bardiya, called Gaderiya towards a corner, opened fire at him and fled. Gaderiya was busy in preparing a mass meeting being organised by the Maoists when he was attacked, according to police.

Nobody has claimed responsibility for the killings.

Maoist sources, however, blamed a local resistance committee allegedly supported by security forces in the past for being responsible for the attacks.
