Left Front selects three members for interim legislature, govt

The United Left Front (ULF) has selected three members for the interim legislature and a cabinet member in the would-be interim government.

According the ULF, general secretary of CPN (ML) CP Mainali, Nanda Kumar Prasai of CPN (MLM), and Ganesh Shah of CPN (United) will represent their party in the interim parliament.

The front also decided to send Jagat Bahadur Bogati, a leader of the Front to the interim government. However, the ruling seven-party alliance and the Maoists are yet to reach consensus about the formation of interim government. Prabhu Narayan Chaudhari is representing the Front in the incumbent government.

Top leaders of the four major political parties had decided to share the remaining 48 seats in the interim parliament among the seven-party alliance and the CPN-Maoist.

According to the understanding, the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and Maoists will get 10 seats each, Nepali Congress (Democratic) six while Nepal Sadbhavana Party (Anandi Devi), Nepal Workers and Peasant Party, People’s Front Nepal and United Left Front will get three seats each out of the 48 seats.

The SPA and the Maoists have agreed to promulgate the interim constitution on January 15 and also form interim legislature on the same day.
