“We will ask the prime minister what the government has in mind about when this arms management process will actually take off and where this process has reached at present,” Madhav Kumar Nepal told Kantipur Television on the sidelines of a program organized to mark the 20 th anniversary of the National People’s Cultural Forum in the capital.
Nepal said that as the people have heard about the arrival of some UN monitors and the recruitment of ex-Gurkha soldiers, he will ask the government about the exact time schedule about the process of arms management.
Responding to the current standoff over the appointment of vice chancellors, rectors and registrars at the universities, he added that his party proposes to appoint them through “open competition” instead of resorting to “dividing the posts among the parties.”
Meanwhile, Nepal has urged for continued public pressure on the government to promulgate interim constitution and form interim government and the parliament.
