Home minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula, UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal, Maoist spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara along with human rights activists have reached Guar this afternoon to access the situation there.
The team includes human rights activists Daman Nath Dhungana, Padma Ratna Tuladhar, Subodh Pyakurel and others. The team would hold meetings with local authorities, security officials, party leaders and civil society members on how the situation in Gaur can be brought under control. The government and the eight party leaders have already announced to curb the situation and bring the culprits to book.
Chief of the Officer of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is also scheduled to visit Gaur today to access the latest situation in the district.
Local authorities have imposed curfew till 3 pm today after the clash between cadres of Madhesi Janadhikari Forum and Maoist affiliated Madhesi Rastriya Mukti Morcha on Wednesday left 27 dead.
