KATHMANDU: The third death anniversary of late King Birendra, Queen Aishwarya and other royal family members who were killed on June 1, 2001 was marked across the country amidst various programs Tuesday.
In the capital, various religious and social organizations organized programs to remember the contribution of the first constitutional monarch and his family to the nation.
Hundreds of people offered flowers and garlands on the statue of late King Birendra at Jawlakhel, Lalitpur. Elsewhere in the capital, the World Hindu Federation distributed food to street children and the destitute on the occasion of the death anniversary of the royals.
Similarly, the Chandani Shah Academy organized a program in the capital where poets and singers highlighted the persona and contribution of late Queen Aishwarya who was also a noted literary figure. Similar programs were organized in the districts as well.
