Doctors attending Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala have said there have been improvement in the health conditions of the octogenarian leader over the last eleven hours.

Premier Koirala was admitted at the Martyr Gangalal National Heart Center at around 10:30 p. m. on Monday as per the advice of physicians after he complained of some difficulties in respiration. Koirala is suffering from bronchitis for quite some time now.
Talking to reporters at the premises of the National Heart Center at Bansbari, Maharajgunj this morning, personal physician of premier Koirala, Dr. Madhu Ghimire, told reporters that after X-Ray, signs of pneumonia were found in Koirala. He further said Koirala would need at least two days full rest in the hospital before he could return to his residence.
After examining him, director of the Martyr Gangalal National Heart Center, Dr. Bhagwan Koirala, said the premier did not have any heart-related complications.
Nona Koirala, sister-in-law of premier Koirala, told the crowd of Nepali Congress workers and other well-wishers that there was nothing to fear. “Koirala took some food and is taking rest,” she added. Koirala is the president of Nepali Congress.

Senior political leaders, diplomats and party workers thronged the hospital as soon as the news of sudden illness of Koirala became public late Monday. Indian ambassador to Nepal, Shiv Shanker Mukherjee, also visited the Heart Center to inquire about the health conditions of Koirala. Reports say a team of Indian medical experts is expectd to arrive Kathmandu on Tuesday to examine the health conditions of the 84-year-old leader.
On Monday, Koirala had chaired a meeting of the council of ministers that took a number of important decisions. He was expected to take fresh oath at the reinstated House of Representatives and present the new government’s plan and programmes on Tuesday.
Speaker Subash Nemwang, who called on Koirala this morning, told reporters that the plan would now be presented before the House next Sunday (July 9). “Koirala signed on the statement of oath and secrecy from his hospital bed this morning,” Nemwang added.
He said members of the council of ministers, however, will have to present at the meeting of the parliament to take oath of office scheduled this morning.
Koirala had returned home last week after undergoing treatment at the Bumrungrad hospital in Bangkok last week. He had also undergone surgery of prostrate gland in the hospital.
