In a bid to break the political deadlock, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Tuesday held discussion with the top leaders of three ruling allies – CPN (UML), CPN (Maoist) and Nepali Congress (Democratic).
The meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar discussed the uncertainly about constituent assembly polls, the eight-party unity and the deadlock in the parliament.
Emerging out of the meeting, NC (D) president Sher Bahadur Deuba said the Prime Minister has agreed to call a top-level meeting of eight parties on Thursday to decide the timetable of the CA polls and other political issues.
Including Deuba, Maoist chairman Prachanda, UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal and some central leaders of the four parties were present at the meeting.
The meeting came in the wake of growing confusion over the CA polls, continuous disruption of parliamentary proceedings and the dispute over the Maoist demand for declaration of republic from the House.
UML general secretary Nepal in a press conference Monday had demanded that an eight-party meeting be called immediately to resolve the political uncertainly.
