Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has held discussion with the founding member of the Nepali Congress and former Prime Minster Krishna Prasad Bhattarai at latter’s residence in Bhaisepati Monday afternoon.

The two leaders held formal discussion for an hour to take initiatives for unification between the Nepali Congress and Nepali Congress (Democratic).
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, PM Koirala said they have reach to an agreement in principle for the party unification.
Koirala said national and international pressure has been mounting for party unification.

Bhattarai said he always favoured the unity in Congress. He also expressed his hope that the party will remain integrated after the unification. He further said he was happy with party president Koirala taking initiatives for unification.
It is expected that the process of party unification will begin after NC-D president Sher Bahadur Deuba returns from Seoul.
Bhattarai has remained silent from politics since the split in Nepali Congress.
Leaders from Nepali Congress and NC-D were also present during the meeting.
