Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala said Friday that time had come for the people to take back their rights from the King regardless of the cost they would have to bear for it.
Inaugurating the ninth national convention of the Nepal Students’ Union, a sister organisation of the Nepali Congress, Koirala said in Birgunj it is necessary to launch a struggle against King Gyanendra as he had failed to acknowledge the feelings of the people. “If the King cannot stay under the Constitution, such a King does not have a place in Nepal,” Koirala said.
Koirala also warned the King that failure to restore the democratic rights of the people would compel the people to launch a final rebellion.
