Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Monday accused the King of orchestrating the split in the Nepali Congress and other political parties.

Addressing a mass meeting organised in Butwal by the Rupandehi district Congress, Koirala said, “After the civic reception organised in the honour of the King in Biratnagar I have the feeling that the King is leading the group of regressive forces in the country.”

He regretted that the King did not make any reference to the Maoist problem and the political confusion prevailing in the country. He said the Royal Proclamation of October 4 had snatched the democratic rights of the people and his party would go on waging a struggle until the rights were restored.
