Kathmandu: Minister for Health Sharat Singh Bhandari, speaking at a talk programme on the “Institution of Crown and our duties” organised by the Nepal Chamber of Commerce to mark the completion of one year of His Majesty the King’s accession to the throne here yesterday, said that the the people’s faith and confidence has been increasing because of the contributions being made by the Institution of Crown.
The dignity of the Institution of Crown has been further enhanced as a result of His Majesy the King’s commitment to democracy and development of the country, Bhandari said, adding that under the system of Constitutional Monarchy, the state should be run by respecting the King and the rights of the people.
Referring to the close relations subsisting between the Institution of the Crown and people of various sections in the Nepalese society as a result of the state being run on the basis of popular consensus, Bhandari said that the nation would benefit through promotion of such relations.
Member of the Rajparishad Standing Committee Dr. Swami Prapannacharya said that His late Majesty King Prithvinarayan Shah and his ancestors had made historical contributions to the development of modern Nepal.
President of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce Rajesh Kaji Shrestha said that the people’s faith in the Institution of Crown has been further enhanced by the judicious role played by His Majesty the King.
A slide show on the life of His Majesty King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev was presented on the occasion.
The talk programme was attended by the representatives of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, intellectuals and social workers.
