Tanahun (Damauli), Jan 22: Minister for Labour, and Housing and Physical Planning Bal Bahadur kc hands over the Damauli Drinking Water Project To Vyash Municipality at a function today.
The project was completed at a cost of some Rs 16 million in three phases.
People of Vyas Municipality Ward Nos 2, 10 and 11 can benefit from the project with 36 public and 1,048 private taps.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister kc said the government is preparing to bring about a drinking water bill in the next parliamentary session.
Stating that the government aims to provide drinking water facility to all the people by the end of the Ninth Five Year Plan, he remarked that the government has pursued the policy of operating projects as per local needs in view of the complaints that only those areas get projects where ministers, mps or leaders are powerful.
The Ministry of Housing and Physical Planning is preparing profiles of all the 75 districts for providing safe drinking water, he added.
