Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) played a splendid game against Mahabir Club (MC) to earn a 3-0 victory while Armed Police Force (APF) routed tail enders Boys Union Club (BUC) 4-1 in the ANFA Martyrs Memorial League Tournament played today at Dasrath Stadium.
The first half of the JYC-MC game was scoreless with all three goals for JYC coming in the second half. Doran Serchan scored the opener with Jaggu Nath Khadka and Nigerian import Abdul Gani adding a goal apiece.
MC forward Som Lama missed as many as three brilliant scoring chances which could have turned the game around for the team.
“We are so happy to see the boys playing a consistent game,” JYC coach Sanu Bhai Thapa told reporters. Mahabir coach Bishnu Poudel said, “My boys missed many chances. This is football, if players miss the opportunities, they have to surrender to the rivals.”
In the earlier match, APF routed BUC 4-1 scoring two goals each in both halves. APF scored the opener through Ajaya KC in the 36th minute. Jibesh Pandey then doubled the tally in the 37th minute. BUC fought back to cut the deficit to one through a penalty kick by Bimal Karki when Ratna Maharjan of APF was given a hand ball inside the D-box.
In the second half, Jibesh scored his second goal of the match in the 47th minute utilizing a deft pass off Mani Pundit. APF then wasted a penalty kick in the 60th minute when Prawjal Chhetri of BUC pulled down Ganesh Lawati inside the D-box. Mani Pundit finally completed the lopsided victory scoring in the 86th minute.
Tomorrow’s matches are between RCT and Boudha FC at 1:30 p.m. while Nabil Three Star takes on Brigade Boys Club in the second match.
