The junior level employees under the health ministry has started an indefinite strike at all public hospitals, bringing all health services except emergency to a halt, demanding fulfillment of their 10-point demands.

Holding a press conference in the capital today, they said that they were compelled to take such an unpopular decision as the government had not listened their demands.

They have been demanding promotion of junior level employees who have completed three years of service and provide skill development training to them, among others.

Speaking at the press conference, Bhagirath Baniya, coordinator of the protest committee warned that the Nepal government, Ministry for Health and Population and the Health Minister should take the responsibility of the losses incurred due to their protest.

A press release distributed by them on the occasion said that they had organized various peaceful protest programmes in the past to pressurize the government to fulfill their demands, but were compelled to take such an unpopular decision as the government ignored their demands.

They informed that they brought the services at all health posts, sub health posts, primary health posts, district, zonal and regional hospitals to a halt from Friday.
