An armed group of Jwala Singh-led Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) has shot and killed a civilian in Lahan, Siraha district.

Three assailants who came on a motorbike shot Ambika Upreti, a resident of Lahan Municipality Ward No. 5, Wednesday night. Fatally injured Upreti, 52, died while being rushed to the hospital, reports said. She was a former employee of Nepal Bank Limited.

JTMM district in-charge Tufan Singh in a statement claimed responsibility for the killing, but didn’t clarify the reason behind it.
