The Jaykrishna Goit faction of Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM-G) took control of the ancestral home and land of late poet Siddhicharan Shrestha today.

JTMM-G’s area in charge Swami told media persons by phone that Shrestha’s 35 bigha land and house located in Arnama-4, Siraha have been seized. He, however, didn’t say why his outfit took control of late poet Shrestha’s house.

The late poet’s family had abandoned their ancestral house and been living in Kathmandu from the past few years.

One of the most prominent poet/writer of Nepal, Siddhicharan Shrestha was sentenced jail for one of his controversial poem during the Rana regime. His poem ‘Okhaldhunga’ is considered one of the master-pieces of Nepali literature

Meanwhile, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) has released journalist Shrisha Rai and Janamat Dainik’s correspondent Ram Sigdel two hours after they were nabbed by the outfit due to the joint effort by the local people and police to free them.

Similarly, due to the Biratnagar bandh (shutdown) called by the forum, most of the businesses and industries remained shut in Biratnagar for the second day today. The agitating Madheshi outfit had called the Biratnagar bandh from yesterday demanding immediate release of its activists Raju Mandal and Ganesh Rajbanshi who have been arrested on charges of manhandling journalists during the Terai movement.
