The Joint Economic Council (JEC) of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) is meeting in New Delhi Wednesday, an announcement said. The meeting will discuss a JEC report on the Nepal Trade Treaty.
Nepal and India have failed to renew the treaty that expired in December; as a gesture India unilaterally extended it for three months after an emergency was slapped in November to contain a communist insurgency.
New Delhi accuses Nepal for dumping some goods, including vegetable oil and acrylic yarn, that have duty free access to India. A FNCCI team led by Padma Jyoti, senior JEC advisor, is heading the Nepali team to the talks.
