Japanese grant for school, fire-fighting equipment

The Japanese embassy Tuesday gave $100,984 dollars for the construction of a  school in Kavre and the supply of fire-fighting equipment and ambulances for  Sunsari, Morang and Kavre districts, the embassy said.

$51,483 equivalent to Rs.3.8 million grant was awarded to upgrade facilities of  Mangal Jana Bijaya High School at Mangaltar where 1,300 students from 1,800  households from seven nearby villages study.

Ambassador Mitsuaki Kojima and Chairman of Kavre DDC Krishna Prasad Sapkota  signed the grant contract. Another $49,401 equivalent to Rs.3.6 million grant  was given to the Fire Fighters Volunteer Association of Nepal (FAN) for the  supply of old fire-fighting equipment and ambulances for municipalities and villages in Sunsari, Morang and Kavre.

Dharan and Ithari municipalities in Sunsari will receive one ambulance and one  fire-fighting engine each while Belbari village in Morang and Panchkhal in Kavre  will each get an ambulance. The used ambulances and fire-fighting equipment are  donations of local governments in Japan. The project implementation will help  save lives and protect property during emergencies.
