Japanese climbs Dhaulagiri

A 29 year old Japanese student from Kyoto scaled the 8167 meters high Dhaulagiri on Friday through the normal north east ridge, the Ministry of Tourism said Monday.

Ryoichi Shitate was a member of a seven member expedition led by Ryoji Yamada, 48. More than 22 expeditions are climbing in the Nepal Himalaya in the current autumn climbing season that ends in October.
