Under its Library Support Programme, the Japan Foundation is donating books on history, culture, economics and politics to the Central Library of Trubhuwan University.

Japanese ambassador Tsutomu Hiraoka is scheduled to hand-over the books to the Central Library on Wednesday at a function being organised at the Library.

“The Japan Foundation is a special organisation that promotes education and cultural exchanges between Japan and foreign countries,” states a press release by the Embassy..

The Embassy hopes that the donated books will be of much help to the Professors and students of the university as well as to the researchers in general. The Foundation has also made similar donations of books to the Library several times in the past.

“On the occasion of books hand-over ceremony, Michihiro Narita, Lecturer of Japanese History at the Campus of International Languages of Tribhuvan University will deliver a lecture on Japan-Nepal Historical Relations through Buddhism and Sanskrit to mark the Golden Jubilee of Japan-Nepal Diplomatic Relations,” adds the press release.

In 2002, Japan had extended a cultural grant for the Supply of Microfilm and Book Binding Equipment to the TU Central Library to preserve the historic materials through microfilms.
