With the objective of helping the Election Commission (EC) hold the elections to Constituent Assembly (CA) in a free and fair manner, the Japanese government has decided to provide it with 60,000 semi-transparent ballot boxes.

Under its Non Project Grant assistance, Japanese government will also provide with 860,000 security seals to the EC.

The ballot boxes will be made available by April. According to EC officials, the semi transparent ballot boxes are economical to purchase and transport and are more reliable as people can see ballot papers from outside. Such boxes are also long-lasting and can be reused.
