Janamorcha Nepal has named party vice-chairman Giriraj Mani Pokhrel and central member Shashi Shrestha as Minister for Health and Population and state minister for the same portfolio, respectively, in the interim government.

Janamorcha chairman Amik Sherchan announced their nomination in a press statement today. Sherchan was the Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister in the seven-party alliance cabinet that was reshuffled on April 1.

The Janamorcha, which suffered two vertical splits in recent past, has four representatives in the Interim Parliament. The party had ‘refused’ to name its sole candidate for the new government, questioning the division of portfolios.

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala currently looks after the health portfolio, which will now go to the Janormorcha.
