KATHMANDU: The central regional industrial business fair, ‘Janakpur Festival-2062’ kicked off in Janakpur, the capital of the ancient Mithila kingdom on Monday with a view of promoting local products and religious tourism in the region.
Different stalls have been displayed at the festival showcasing various local products of Janakpur area. The festival will last till 11th December.
Janakpur is a great pilgrimage site for Hindus across the world. The most sacred sites are the Janaki Mandir, dedicated to goddess Sita, the Ram Sita ‘bibaha mandir’ (marriage temple), built over the spot where Ram and Sita were said to be married, Ram Mandir, dedicated to god Ram and the holy pond Dhanush Sagar.
Hundreds of thousands people from India and different parts of the country flock to the holy site during the Bibhapanchami festival.
