At a time when Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala is facing criticism for not forming the interim government soon, Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula has said that it could be formed by tomorrow.

Talking to journalists, on Wednesday, after Maoists disrupted the parliamentary proceeding demanding immediate formation of interim government and prevented him from speaking the Home Minister said that all should have patience to listen to others’ statements, adding, “Prime Minister Koirala is working to form interim government at the earliest.”

“I am confident that the interim government will be formed before Prime Minister Koirala leaves for India to attend the 14th SAARC summit,” Sitaula added. Prime Minister Koirala is leaving for SAARC summit on Sunday.

Sitaula further said, “The directives of the interim parliament would be implemented one by one. Everything cannot be completed at once.”

He further said that there was no consensus to dissolve the election constituency delineation commission and commission formed to probe the Gaur massacre. He further said that the interim government will be formed after consensus was reached on all issues.

Maoists have been demanding dissolution of both the commissions and formation of such commissions on the basis of consensus.

Maoists have set the deadline of Friday to form the interim government and warned of agitation if the deadline was not met.

Other political parties of the coalition government are also exerting pressure to the Prime Minister to immediately form interim government.

Maoists have been obstructing the parliamentary proceeding from Tuesday demanding dissolution of present coalition government and formation of interim government inclusive of them. The process of formation of interim government was delayed due to dispute among eight political parties about distribution of key portfolios in the interim government.
