Industrialist Bikram Chandra Agrawal was shot in the eastern town of Birjung Friday morning.
A group of armed assailants in motorcycles shot Agrawal near Ghadigharwa Pokhari of the district, while on a morning walk at around 6.30 in the morning.
Agrawal has been brought to Kathmandu for treatment. Proprietor of Mukti Oil Mill and Delhi Public School, Agrawal is believed to be shot after he refused to give money as demanded by the group.
Chairman of Birjung Industry and Commerce Association, Bijaya Sarawat, informed Nepalnews over phone that a paper left by the attackers said that he was shot for not coughing up the money as demanded by the group.
The paper was left by Indian criminal Chotelal Sahani’s group. The group had carried out similar attacks against other industrialists of the district before.
Police said a manhunt is on in the area to arrest the culprits.
