Indian politician to visit Nepal

A senior Indian politician is arriving in Kathmandu today to take part in a seminar to discuss peace and democracy in two South Asian neighbors.

Former Union Minister and Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav will lead a four-member delegation to Nepal on Friday at the invitation of the Mahendra Narayan Nidhi Memorial Foundation in Kathmandu, Indian media reported.

The foundation was formed in memory of late Mahendra Narayan Nidhi who was a prominent leader of Nepali Congress. At present, his son Bimalendra Nidhi is a senior leader of Nepali Congress (Democratic).

Yadav will be the chief guest at a seminar on `Peace and Democracy in India and Nepal.’ He will also address the coordination committee of the ruling parties of Nepal, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s satyagraha.

The other members of the delegation are JD (U) general secretary K.C. Tyagi, Bihar Minister Ram Asrey Prasad Singh, and Secretary-General of the South Asian Forum for People’s Initiative Sudhindra Bhadoria. The delegation will also meet Nepalese Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala.
