Indian police release 51 Nepali pilgrims

Police in the Indian state of West Bengal today set free 51 Nepali religious pilgrims who were taken under control on Tuesday after firearms were found in a bus carrying them.

The bus had met with an accident in Kolkata, killing three pilgrims.

Reports said the Nepalis, who were returning from Ganga Sagar, a Hindu religious shrine in West Bengal state, were released from Kolkata after investigation.

One pilgrim who was critically injured in the accident has been undergoing treatment in Kolkata. Last rites of the deceased pilgrims were performed in Kolkata on Wednesday.
