Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, and US Secretary of State, Colin Powell, called Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba Wednesday and expressed sorrow over the killing of 12 Nepalis in Iraq.
According to Foreign Ministry, both the leaders condemned the killing of innocent Nepalis and expressed their solidarity with the people of Nepal in the hour of grief.
Dr. Man Mohan Singh assured every possible support on part of the Indian government to the Nepal government, the Ministry said.
Similarly, US Secretary of State, Colin Powell, called Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Deuba and extended deepest sympathy on behalf of President George Bush, the US government and himself to King Gyanendra, the government and people of Nepal at the sad incident.
Powell condemned the terrorist act and reiterated his government’s resolve to work in collaboration with the international community in its fight against terror.
Indian Foreign Minister, K. Natwar Singh, the governments of Bangladesh and Japan have also condemned the dastardly act of killing of innocent Nepalis after taking them hostage by a group of Islamic militants in Iraq.
