KATHMANDU: Indian ambassador to Nepal Shyam Saran met CPN-UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal at his residence Tuesday afternoon.

UML sources revealed that the current political situation was discussed during the meeting, but declined to give details. The meeting lasted over an hour.

The meeting between the UML general secretary and the Indian ambassador comes in the wake of fresh political uncertainty arising after the five agitating political parties refused to recommend their prime ministerial candidate as asked by the King.

Saran, the sources said, informed Nepal about the proposed visit of new Indian foreign minister K Natwar Singh.
