A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed November 8 between the Embassy of India in Nepal and the Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh (NNJS) for cooperation in organising eye care camps in the rural and remote areas of Nepal to promote eye-care facilities in such areas, the Indian Embassy said Tuesday.
The camps are to be organised under the auspices of NNJS, a welfare organisation recognised and authorised by His Majesty’s Government and the Social Welfare Council.
India will provide grant assistance of NRs.5.65 million to NNJS for conducting 5000 cataract operations in the camps to be organised by NNJS at various locations in Nepal between November 2002 to March 2003.
This is in continuation of grant assistance amounting to NRs.2.26 million provided by India to NNJS during the previous year 2001-02 for conducting 2000 cataract operations in the camps.
