India to provide assistance over 25 million rupees

The Indian government is to provide assistance of Rs 25,742,658 for for construction of a postgraduate (PG) building and girl’s hostel with kitchen of Bhairahawa Multiple Campus, Siddarthanagar, Rupendehi.

A press release issued by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu on Wednesday said, the Embassy of India, the District Development Committee (DDC) Rupendehi and Bhairahawa Multiple Campus, Siddarthanagar, Rupendehi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to this effect on Wednesday.

A monitoring committee has been constituted for the project to oversee the project and supervise construction and ensure proper utilization of the grant assistance, the statement said.

“About 2500 students including 850 girl students study at the Bhairahawa Multiple Campus. The need for a PG building and a girls’ hostel had been long felt by the local community and it is hoped that the hostel building will greatly contribute in giving more access to higher education for the girls in Rupendehi and adjoining districts of Nawalparasi and Kapilvastu,” the statement adds.
