Indian ambassador to Nepal Shyam Sharan said Sunday that the Indian government was waiting for the green signal from the Nepal government to open a consulate office in Birgunj, reports from the district said.
Sharan was addressing a programme organized by the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the bordering town of Birgunj. He said the consulate would be opened as soon as the Nepal government issued the permission to do so.
Sharan said the decision to expedite the operation of the dry port in Birgunj rested on the Nepal Government. He said issues of contention on the draft agreement had already been resolved and once the draft agreement is finalized, a formal agreement could be signed. nepalnews.com am Apr 8
