The government of India has sanctioned assistance of Rs.64,213,752 for development of 22 Farmers-managed Deep Tube Well systems in eastern districts of Jhapa, Sunsari, Saptari and Siraha.
A press statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu said, an agreement between Government of India and Government of Nepal was signed on 6th January.
Indian Ambassador to Nepal laid the foundation stone for development of a Farmers-managed Deep Tube Well Irrigation System in Budhabare Village Development Committee of Jhapa district on Monday.
“Implementation of the above project would go a long way in improving the infrastructure for irrigation of 880 hectares of agricultural land in four districts of Jhapa, Sunsari, Saptari and Siraha where farmers are mainly dependent on rain-water for agriculture,” the statement added.
