India will provide Rs 11.3 million to the Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh (NNJS) for cooperation in promoting eye-care facilities in the remote areas of Nepal.
According to a statement issued by the Indian embassy, an MoU to this effect was signed between the Nepal based Indian embassy and NNJS Wednesday.
As per the MOU, India will provide the assistance to NNJS to perform 10,000 cataract operations at various rural places in Nepal between August 2005 and March 2006, the statement said.
“This is in continuation of grant assistance amounting to Rs.30.51 million provided by India to NNJS during the previous years 2001-02, 2002-03, 2003-04 2004-05 for conducting 27,000 cataract operations in eye care camps,” stated the press communiqué.
