Income boost schemes for weaker VDCs

Bhadrapur, May 22: Fourteen village development committees (VDCs) with weak economy have been selected for the implementation of the women awareness and income-generation programme in Jhapa district.

The VDCs selected for the programme are Baniyani, Balubadi and Pathamari from constituency-1 of the district, Khudunabari and Shanti Nagar from constituency-2, Jyamirgadhi and Bahundangi from constituency-3, Dangibari and Rajgadh from constituency-4, Panch Gachhi and Dharampur from constituency-5 and Kohabara, Kodobari and Gauradaha from constituency-6.

According to the district committee programme coordinator, six groups will be formed in each VDC and loans disbursed to these groups.

Programmes like savings and credit, income generation and community development would be launched in these VDCs.

Meanwhile in Dhankuta, the work of providing promotional bank credit to entrepreneur’s’ groups constituted as part of the village-town partnership programme by Dhankuta municipality for community mobilisation has commenced here since Saturday.

As part of the credit disbursement scheme, the Sayapatri Poultry Purchase and Sales Group and the Annapurna Grains Purchase and Sales Group constituted by the Panchakanya Tol Basti organisation were issued a loan of Rs 25,000 each while the Srijansil Women’s Poultry Purchase and Sales Group constituted by the local Jalkanya Tolbasti organisation was provided a loan of Rs 24,000.

At the programme presided over by the Panchakanya Tolbasti Organisation President Laxmi Prasad Bhandari, Dhankuta municipality ward No. 2 chairman Mukunda Bhandari, municipality secretary Ganesh Bhattarai, financial officer Upendra Khanal and community volunteer Kul Prasad Rai stressed making best use of the loan facilities.
