Biratnagar, June 19: The Morang district court has ordered imprisonment of the three robbers arrested in connection with a robbery incident that occurred in Madhubani village, Kerabari VDC-1 on June 1.

A one-man bench of the District Court Chief Judge Om Prakash Mishra Convicted Gopal Tamang of Local Bhogateni VDC-1, Santa Bahadur Magar and Sante Magar of Letang VDC for the robbery and sentenced them to imprisonment.

However, the court ordered the release of Dik Bahadur Tamang, a resident of Bhogateni VDC-1 and Hari Magar, a resident of turke, leatang vdc-1, arrested on the same charges, citing lack of evidence.

They have been asked to deposit themselves before the court on an appointed date.

The robbers had looted cash and property worth about Rs 600,000 from nine houses at Madhubani VDC-1 and also inflicted injuries on some persons.

Meanwhile, the CPN (UML) Morang district committee had been organising a week-long campaign in various stages to press for the release of those arrested on the robbery charges saying they were CPN (UML) workers.

However, the CPN (UML) district committee abandoned its campaign last Thursday after a three-member investigation committee was formed under the convenorship of joint secretary of the Home Ministry Madhav Prasad Ghimire to probe the incident.
